How to Install ABS Pipes: Step-by-Step

  1. Measure & Cut

    • Use a tape measure and a pipe cutter or handsaw to cut the pipe to your desired length.

    • Make sure to cut squarely to ensure a tight connection.

  2. Deburr & Clean

    • Remove burrs and smooth the pipe ends using a deburring tool or sandpaper.

    • Wipe off any dust or grease from both the pipe and the fitting.

  3. Dry Fit

    • Assemble the pieces without glue to check alignment and fit.

    • Mark the insertion depth on the pipe for accurate installation.

  4. Apply ABS Cement

    • Use a dedicated black ABS solvent cement – no primer required!

    • Apply cement to both the pipe and the fitting quickly and evenly.

  5. Connect & Hold

    • Insert the pipe into the fitting with a twist (1/4 turn if possible).

    • Hold firmly for 10–15 seconds to ensure bonding.

  6. Cure & Test
